HALFWAY POINT

With the August long weekend quickly approaching and playoffs around the corner its time to look back and reflect on the first half of the season.

Unlike previous seasons the month of May had many suprises in store for us. Sun became a distant memory as week after week teams were forced to play in unpredictable weather ranging from wind storms to constant rain. Even though the weather was not to our liking each week teams came prepared many dressed in layers and ready to play.

In the Womens Division it was a tight race for 1st as Blue Devilz, Dt United and Ac Geever all put up strong performances for a 3-1 record.  As we have reached the halfway point, three time defending champion Dt United currently sits in first place with a game in hand against Blue Devilz. Chaos may be in second last place but their record doesnt necessarily reflect their skill level. Its unforunate that they struggle with commitment from their players but each week they continue to show up and play with heart until the final whistle blows. Holiday, a new team to VSL was off to a slow start but with hardwork and dedication they have continued to improve each week.

In the Men's Division 4, Etobicoke Fc started off with an impressive 5-0 record with their first loss coming from Maple Fc. Maple Fc has also put a strong performance this season and their hardwork during the off season seems to be paying off as they currently are in 2nd place. Morning Train, Blue Man Group, and Errea United all brand new teams to league started off slow but have seemed to found their way back onto the win column. Its going to be a tight race for playoffs as Old School Kicks and Fc Mapoli are currently holding the final two playoff spots.

Division 3 has been off to an intense start with majority of teams fighting to crack top 4. Invicta Fc currently sits in first place with long time rivals Liverfools right behind them in second place. Hype Fc, Kurdish Eagles, River Plate and Tapstone are all just a few points away from each which explains why this division currently holds the record for most yellow cards given out this season. With playoffs around the corners its time to stay focus as there is no room for error.
